Volley Against Violence (VAV) is a Community/Police Engagement initiative designed to utilize tennis to bring youth and police together for physical activity, informal mentoring, relationship building. Children, police officers, and community volunteers meet together at Washington Park Tennis Center on Friday nights from 6-8 p.m. for a fun night of pizza and tennis. On court games, relay races, and small group meetings help create a non-confrontational environment where youth and police, together with parents and advocates can address issues that cause tension between police and neighborhood youth.
The Chattahoochee Foundation, The Atlanta Youth Tennis and Education Foundation, the Atlanta Police Department, Atlanta Police Athletic League, and the Judicial Circuit District Attorney have joined forces to make this program a success.Do you want to be part of VAV?

  • Volunteer time and talent. Please visit our Signup Genius page. You don’t need tennis expertise. We are looking for volunteers for on-court activities, general administration and set-up/clean-up, food prep and distribution. We appreciate all volunteers!
  • Donate Money. If you would like to financially support this program, please click on the Donate button on the right hand side of the page. You can choose a one-time donation option or a recurring monthly option. You will receive email updates and a tax receipt.
